Chapter One of Alteration

*This is the continuation of The Moonlight is Dimming but I have changed the title*

First day of work

“Welcome, Scott to Animal Savior; you start today!!” announced a brunette receptionist  brightly. “Congratulations!”  Scott Bickler smiled knowingly
“Dr. Churchill will show you around.” She waved her hand toward the hall where a man in a white lab coat came walking up; His light brown hair reflected off the florescent lights above.
“Shall we?” Churchill asked before briskly turning around walking back down the tiled floor; Scott hurriedly walked after him.
The hall ways were as if a labyrinth all the halls and doors looked identical. The doors were a light pastel green with a small window in the middle accompanied by a clip board hanging underneath them. The walls held a white with dark green square pattern wallpaper. There were about 12 doors, evenly spaced, in each stretch of corridor.
“I’m Brad Churchill; call me Dr. Churchill.” Churchill finally spoke looking over at Scott with his intense hazel eyes
“I’m Dr. Bickler.” He replied unflinching. They turned to another hall that had powder blue doors with no windows or clipboards but little black boxes aside the doorknobs.
“Dr. Bickler, you understand our work here at this facility?” they passed door after door little silver plaques with black numbers A-45; next door A-46.
“We help disabled animals. DNA Genetic Alternator is to for example: help a paralyzed dog with our new technology to walk again.” Scott answered without hesitation.
“Correct. You understand that you are now in a state of pure confidentiality while working here?” Churchill pressed.
“Yes of course.” They finally stopped in front of a door A-50 Churchill swiped his identification card into the black box. Lifting it up the door beeped and the click of the lock moving aside and opened the door.
Scott gasped it was a room he had never seen before. It had rows upon rows of tables with the latest technology: microscopes, DNA scanners, RNA monitors, computers and projector screens; many hard working G.A.’s looked and typed any minor detail in the gene that needed to be used and characterized in their notebook laptops.
Churchill and Scott pasted by all these tables down into another room similar to a dorm community kitchen and rest area.  And standing right in front of him was a door with a plaque announcing like a poster: Dr. S. Bickler D.N.A. G.A. PhD.
A grin spread across Scotts’ face a feeling of absolute wholeness seeing his name placed like that, the title, he had been working for this his whole life. He looked over at Dr. Churchill; he nodded for Scott to use his identification card in the slot to open his door. The indicator beeped. Scott turned the handle to behold his new professional work space; it was almost like Christmas to him.
“This is your office: Everything in here should be efficient for your work but there is also the general room with addition technology, the common area you are welcome to use at any time and you can take as long as you like on your assignment for we do what the best possible result.”
Scott sat in the roller black chair behind is massive mahogany desk with his new Notebook laptop. The room was big enough to park a Hummer! Full of the same powder blue for the walls as the doors with black hard carpet; on the side in front of his desk was a grey table top attached to the wall.
It held three computers, a high quality microscope, a file holder with full of new assignments for him and test tubes with measuring tubes. On the opposite wall had a projector screen to place up his online diagrams.
“I must go now; your welcome to fill this room with any personal items that you like; this is your room and only you are able to use this room. Dr. Lani will visit you soon to get you a detailed tour of Animal Savior.” Churchill nodded, walking out.
Scott sighed. So much technology at his hands; where could he begin?!
